Health and Safety is a crucial part of a student’s college experience. One should most definitely be aware of the variety of resources offered here at UTD.

Safety

UTD Police offers many crime prevention services. Take a look at their website (posted below), but here are some of their services:

  • Police escort: By the time many students are released from class, it’s already dark outside. As such, some of you may feel unsafe to walk to your apartment or dorm at the time of night. Well, UTD Police offers free 24/7 escort anywhere on campus. Just call UTD Dispatch at 972-883-2222.

  • R.A.D. Rape Aggression Defense Systems: call UTD Police Department to reserve a space to attend this program taught by female law enforcement officers.

We highly encourage anyone who is the victim of a sexual offense to report it to campus security, like UTD Police or the Office of the Dean of Students, University residential life personnel, deans, directors, and department heads.

Mental health

Mental Health is a important thing that one should take care of at all times. Being a full time college student along with working, volunteering, researching, and taking care of yourself/others is very stressful. We can easily fall into a path of blaming ourselves or not always finding much happiness with our lives. The Student Counseling Center offers in-person support as well as a 24/7 hotline. Please take advantage of these resources.
